Age Levels

At McKats Learning, we understand that every child is unique and has different learning needs. That’s why our summer program
is designed to accommodate kids from Preschool through Entering Third Grade, with curriculum and resources tailored to their
developmental stage. Each grade level offers two options: one for students working at their current grade level and another for
students who need an extra challenge.

We make sure that each child’s experience is personalized whether they’re working at their grade level or are ready to advance
beyond it. All students will have access to Google Classroom for supplemental materials and support. We provide both
independent and guided learning paths to ensure each child has a fulfilling and engaging summer learning experience.

Preschool ( Ages 3- 4 )

For our littlest learners, we provide a playful, hands-on curriculum that introduces basic concepts in math, literacy, and social-emotional skills. Through interactive activities, simple reading exercises, and fun games, preschoolers will develop the foundational skills they need for kindergarten and beyond.

Program Highlights for Preschoolers:

Entering Kindergarten
( Ages 5-6 )

Kindergarteners are ready to take their learning to the next level! Our program provides engaging lessons in foundational math and reading skills, with a focus on phonics, basic addition and subtraction, and early writing. This curriculum prepares children for first grade by reinforcing what they’ve learned and adding new skills for them to explore.

Entering First Grade
( Ages 6-7 )

First graders are gaining confidence in their skills and ready to tackle more complex concepts. Our program focuses on strengthening math skills like addition and subtraction, while building reading fluency and comprehension. Writing is also an important focus at this level, helping students develop their storytelling and sentence-building skills.

Program Highlights for First Grade:

Entering Second Grade
( Ages 7-8 )

At this level, students begin working with more advanced concepts in both math and reading. Our curriculum builds on the skills they’ve already mastered, introducing addition and subtraction with larger numbers, as well as more complex reading passages. Writing becomes more structured, with students learning to write clear, detailed sentences and stories.

Entering Third Grade
( Ages 8-9 )

Third graders are ready to dive into more advanced concepts! Our program challenges students to refine their math skills with multiplication and division, while also strengthening their reading comprehension and writing abilities.
